Biography

Irene Guzmán Alcón is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Language Didactics at the University of Valencia (UV). She has been collaborating with the LAELA research group since 2019, and since 2024, she has also been collaborating with the ELCiS research group. She holds an MA in English Language Teaching in Multilingual Contexts and an MA in English Language Teaching in Secondary Education. In 2023, she obtained her PhD in Applied Linguistics at Universitat Jaume I with an Excellent Cum Laude distinction.

Irene was awarded a grant not only as a pre-doctoral student but also as a post-doctoral researcher. Her research interests include third language acquisition, young language learners, CLIL, and multilingual education. The results of her studies have been published through various articles in internationally indexed journals, such as English Language Teaching, Caplletra and Applied Pragmatics (John Benjamins), among others. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences and has been involved in the organisation of several national and international conferences. Additionally, she has participated in several research projects focusing on multilingual pragmatics, CLIL, and individual differences in education and national and regional levels.
