Biography

Julia Haba-Osca, English Philology Degree (2008), Italian Philology Degree (2013), and Doctor of Education (2014) at the Universitat de València, having obtained the Extraordinary Doctoral Thesis Award for her work “Poetry Workshop in the area of English as a Foreign Language: Towards the Development of Literary, Intercultural, and Communicative Competences,” which was the first research project in the Doctoral Program in Specific Didactics to base its methodology on the Education for Development and Global Citizenship (EDGC). She currently works as a tenured professor in the Department of English and German Philology at the Universitat de València, where she teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in English Studies, the Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy, the Master's Degree in Advanced English Studies (MAES), the Master's Degree in Creative and Humanistic Translation, and the Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching (MAES). She has been a member of the Research Group on Social Inequality Processes (IPRODES) since 2020. She is the director of the Master's Degree in Continuing Education in Creative Writing (MEC) alongside professor Begonya Pozo Sánchez. Her areas of research focus on the benefits of creative writing, literature as a social tool, and migrant narratives, with a special emphasis on graphic literature. She organizes the annual International Conference on Innovation in Illustrated Books and Comics (JOLIN). She is a member of the University Institute of Creativiy and Educational Innovations (IUCIE).
