Biography

Rafael Ibáñez Puchades is a University Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Valencia (UV) , where he earned his Bachelor's degree (1980) and Ph.D. (1984) in Chemistry. He has been part of the Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) since 1984 , obtaining his Professorship in 2018. His teaching career has been mostly linked to the field of Materials Science. His research focuses on Solid State Chemistry , Nanostructured Materials by Laser Ablation in Liquids , and Laser Surface Treatment , with recognition for five research periods (four for research and one for technology transfer). In the management field, he is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Valencia (since 2024) , after having served as the Director of the University Institute of Materials Science (ICMUV) between 2002 and 2008. His strong commitment to technology transfer is evident in several patents and in the co-founding of the Technology-Based Companies (EBTs) Laser Food 2007, S.L. , Biotec System, S.L. , and Persiskin, S.L. , for which he received the Researcher-Entrepreneur Award from the UV in 2016.
