Biography

Dr. José Santiago Ibáñez-Cabellos holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology (2012), a Master's Degree in Biomedical Research (2013), a Master's Degree in Bioinformatics (2022), and a Master's Degree in Secondary School Teacher Training (2025), all from the University of Valencia. He obtained his PhD in Physiology (2018) with a thesis on the molecular biology of telomeres and oxidative stress in various cellular models.

In terms of his professional training, he has worked in various research laboratories and private biomedical companies. He has trained in both molecular and computational laboratory environments, such as: Sistemas Genómicos S.L., La Fe Hospital Array Service, Computational Biology Laboratories at the National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO), the University of Manchester, the CIBER-ISCIII U733 unit, the Laboratory of Physiopathology of Rare Diseases (University of Valencia), the epigenetics company EpiDisease S.L., and the INCLIVA Health Research Institute.

He has obtained several scholarships to study and work in Spain and abroad. He is a professor in the ADEIT (UV) master's program on rare diseases. Author of 26 scientific articles and 2 book chapters, he has participated in 19 projects and has an H-index of 17. He received the 40th García-Blanco Medal Award (2019), which recognizes the scientific achievements of young researchers under the age of 30, and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2020) in the field of medicine from the University of Valencia.

Specialized in epigenomics and epigenetics of aging, with a primary focus on miRNA-mediated regulation and DNA methylation profiles. Backed by a solid scientific output in these areas, he integrates this expertise with experience in telomere maintenance, oxidative stress, and cancer biology. His mastery of multi-omics bioinformatics, redox signaling, and translational assay development is fundamental to biomarker discovery, molecular validation, and clinical transfer of projects.
