Josep Izquierdo Gil (Massamagrell, l’Horta nord, 1965). Doctor in Philology with a thesis on Medieval Catalan Literature (1995) which received the Massó i Torrens prize from the IEC in 1996. Professor of secondary education and associate professor in the Departament de Filologia Catalana of the Universitat de València. He is co-director of the magazine Tirant: butlletí informatiu i bibliogràfic de novel·la de caballeries,  and editorial secretary of the magazine Magnificat Cultura i Literatura Medievals, directed by Dr. Rosanna Cantavella. In his published works he has dealt with medieval Catalan biblical translations, Tirant lo Blanc, the Catalan Chronicles and the work of Felip de Malla, among others.
