Biography

I hold a degree in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from the University of the Basque Country. I completed a Master's degree in Sociology, History, and Anthropology of Sport at Paris-Descartes University (France). In 2017, I finished my doctoral thesis on the hidden curriculum (undeclared learning) in physical education and school sports.

Since 2015, I have taught at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, primarily in subjects related to the teaching of physical activity and sport in physical education and school sports. I teach in the Master's Program in Research and Intervention in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences at the University of Valencia, where I supervise Master's theses. I have taught over 2,000 hours of university courses in official degree programs and am currently supervising two doctoral theses.

I am a member of the 'Physical Activity, Education and Society' research group at the University of Valencia, the 'LGBTIQ+ Research Network, Physical Education and Sport', and the 'Soca-rel Critical Physical Education Seminar'. For the past three years, I have also been a member of the Scientific Committee of the international congress of interdisciplinary LGBTIA+ and queer studies, 'Maricorners'. I participated in the development and monitoring of the 'State Strategy for Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination of LGBTI People and for the Social Inclusion of Trans People' of the Ministry of Equality.

My research focuses on the teaching of physical and sporting activities and social justice, as well as access to, habits of, and experiences in sport among vulnerable groups such as LGBTIQ+ people, women, people with disabilities, children and adolescents at risk of social exclusion, etc., preferably through qualitative research and in recreational and community-based physical and sporting activities.

During my research career, I have completed two research stays at Paris Descartes University, France (2010 and 2013), one at the University of Nevada, Reno, USA (2012), and one at Monash University, Australia (2023).

I have given lectures and training sessions at more than 10 different universities, I participate in national and international research projects, and I publish and review articles in high-impact journals.
