Biography

Jesús López has a PhD in Information Technology, Communications, and Computing from the University of Valencia. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Higher Technical School of Engineering at the aforementioned university. He graduated with a degree in Technical Engineering in Telecommunications from the University of Valencia in 2010. He was awarded the Extraordinary End of Degree Prize for the best academic record by the Official Association of Telecommunications Engineers of the Valencian Community. Obtained a Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2018, and his PhD in 2022.

Dr. López initially worked on various engineering projects related to communications in the fields of healthcare, industry, and architecture. During this stage, he developed customized communications infrastructures and implemented telemedicine protocols and systems in the field of early care for heart disorders. He then pursued his professional career at the Institute of Robotics and Information and Communication Technologies (IRTIC), within the Simulation and Modeling Laboratory (LSyM) group and the Signal Processing & Acoustic Technology (SPAT) group, of which he is still a member today. During this stage, he focused his professional work on the development of advanced simulator physics, communications protocols for collaborative systems, and spatial audio acquisition, processing, and reproduction systems.

His academic and professional development led him to win a scholarship in the form of a Doctoral Training Contract (formerly FPI), through which he developed his doctoral thesis, focused on the monitoring and acoustic characterization of soundscapes with IoT technology, using deep learning. His studies in the field of acoustic parameterization and related signal processing have enabled him to develop his research focused on predictive maintenance using multiple sensors, particularly low-power acoustic sensors on IoT devices focused on Industry 5.0.

He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering within the Digital Systems and Communications Design (DSDC) group, also collaborating with the Signal Processing & Acoustic Technology (SPAT) group at the University of Valencia.

His research interests are related to the IoT, predictive maintenance, Industry 5.0, artificial intelligence, signal processing, technology applied to medicine, and communications.

He has participated in numerous projects with European and national funding. He also carries out various transfer, consulting, and research activities with different companies in the aforementioned areas, disseminating research results through press releases and presentations at conferences and the publication of scientific articles in indexed journals.
