His teaching career began in 1995 as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Valencia (UV), and in 1997 he moved to a full-time Adjunct Professor position at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). From 1998 to 2002, he held a position as Assistant Professor at the UV, and since 2002 he has been a Associate Professor at the University of Valencia.
His teaching has mainly focused on subjects related to Digital Signal Processing, Multimedia Electronic Systems, Automation, and Electronic Circuits. In total, he has taught up to 19 different courses across various degree programs and universities.
He is co-author of two teaching textbooks and up to seven books of specialized materials for master’s programs or postgraduate diplomas.
He has participated in five official Master’s programs, as well as several postgraduate courses and specialization diplomas, and has also delivered other courses of different nature.
He carries out his scientific activity within the GPDD Research Group (“Digital Processing and Design Group”). With 76 conference contributions and 37 journal articles, his current research focuses on architectures for on-chip learning. He also works on the processing of biomedical brain, cortical, and subcortical signals in pathologies such as Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. In addition, he conducts research on real-time hardware implementation techniques for the training of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs).
He has participated in seven competitively funded R&D projects (being Principal Investigator in two of them) and has extensive experience in technological development and transfer to industry, having participated in eleven projects with companies (being Principal Investigator in three of them).
He is a regular reviewer for high-impact journals. He has participated and currently participates in the evaluation of projects for different national agencies (ANEP, DGT, National and Regional Plans), and as an evaluator in the ACADEMIA program of ANECA.
He has been a member of the University of Valencia' Claustro. He has held several departmental management positions and is currently a member of the Academic Committee of the Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering and a member of the Permanent Board of the Department of Electronic Engineering (DIE) at the University of Valencia. He is also currently responsible for the coordination of the second year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunication Electronic Engineering (GIET).
