Lucas Serrano Pastor is a PhD student in the Department of Basic Psychology at the University of Valencia, Spain. He holds a bachelor's degree extraordinary award in psychology, two master’s degrees in Prevention and Treatment of Addictive Behaviours and Research on Cognition and Human Evolution, and a postgraduate qualification as a Specialist in Clinical Intervention in Addictions. He has combined research with clinical practice, having worked as a therapist at the Hedra Day Centre of the ADSIS Foundation. He is currently developing his doctoral thesis with a new line of research focused on recovery-oriented approaches, exploring pathways, personal experiences, and key aspects of addiction recovery in Spain. He has carried out the cultural adaptation of the Life in Recovery (LiR) survey to the Spanish context and has designed a scale to assess the most important aspects of personal recovery, based on a critical analysis of the CHIME model (both works are currently under review). At present, he is exploring profiles of people in recovery and key aspects of their process.

To date, he has authored 7 publications, 1 book chapter, and 25 conference contributions. He has also collaborated with La Fe Hospital in Valencia on a project studying moral reasoning in the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis–Frontotemporal Dementia (ALS-FTD) complex and its influence on patient autonomy.

He has taught the subject Prevention and Treatment of Delinquency in the Criminology degree and the double degree in Law and Criminology at the University of Valencia. He is a member of the MOTIVEM teaching team, has participated in two Teaching Innovation projects on suicide prevention and the development of socio-emotional competences, and has created teaching materials on the intervention in Depressive Disorders.
