Biography

Lucas Serrano Pastor is a PhD student in the Department of Basic Psychology at the University of Valencia (UV). He is a graduate in Psychology (Extraordinary Award) and holds master’s degrees in Prevention and Treatment of Addictive Behaviours, Research in Cognition and Human Evolution and a postgraduate specialism in Clinical Intervention in Addictions: New Advances and Integrative Techniques. He has clinical experience having worked as a therapist in addictions at the ADSIS Foundation’s. 

As a result of this clinical experience and the interests of the EVAIN research group (GIUV2015-236), he is developing a new line of research based on the emerging paradigm of recovery in addictions. He is currently working on his thesis on the pathways, needs and essential components of recovery from addictions in Spain. Together with his team he is collaborating on the development of the project "Analysis of socio-educational needs and demands in the adolescent population in Oliva, Spain". 

Since the end of his degree, he has been combining research and clinical practice. So far, he has published five articles in JCR, two book chapters and 18 communications in conferences. He has collaborated with La Fe Hospital in Valencia on a project about moral reasoning in the complex Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - Frontotemporal Dementia (ALS-DFT) and its influence on patient autonomy. He was invited by the University of Pedagogy and Technology in Colombia for the presentation "Accompanying the process of change in addiction: Intervention and practical tools" at the XII Forum on Drug Dependence and Addiction Prevention and Treatment. 

He is currently teaching Crime Prevention and Treatment on the Criminology degree and the double degree of Law and Criminology at the University of Valencia. He is part of the teaching team MOTIVEM and has coordinated a team in the competitions of Innovative Ideas. He has participated in two Teaching Innovation projects on suicide prevention and socio-emotional skills and has participated in the creation of teaching material on Intervention in Depressive Disorders. 

Subjects taught and teaching methods
