Maelia Esther Pérez Silveira holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Camagüey, Cuba (1993); a Doctor of Laws from the University of Valencia (2004); and Master’s degrees in Private Law (2001) and in Business, Justice, and Law (2025), both from the University of Valencia, Spain. She is currently a professor and researcher in Private International Law at the University of Valencia, through the “Beatriz Galindo” program of the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities, in the Private International Law Section of the “Adolfo Miaja de la Muela” Department of International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Valencia, Spain. She is a member of the INTERGENDIG research group, Gender, Migration, and Digital Transformations in Transnational Contexts, within the Private International Law Area, as well as the Group for Studies on International Migration (GEMI) at the Center for Demographic Studies of the University of Havana, Cuba. She is conducting a personal research project titled “Women’s Rights in Transnational Contexts: Challenges for a Gender-Sensitive and Digitalized Private International Law.” She is a member of the Spanish Association of Professors of International Law and International Relations (AEPDIRI), the American Society of Private International Law (ASADIP), and the Central American Academy of Private International Law (ACECADIP). She is a member of the International Civil Procedure Network (Brazil), the Latin American and Caribbean Law Network (REDALC) at the University of Atacama (Chile), and the ComPara Network in the Department of Private International Law at the University of Valencia. She is the author of several journal articles and chapters in edited volumes, and has participated in numerous international conferences in various countries.
