Biography

Mª Teresa Albelda Gimeno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Valencia. She earned her degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Valencia, where she received the Extraordinary Award of the Degree, and completed her PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry, earning the distinction of Summa Cum Laude.

Her research has focused on supramolecular chemistry, the design of fluorescent sensors, and the development of contrast agents with biomedical applications. She has undertaken research stays at internationally renowned universities, including the University of Florence, the University of Kansas, the University of Lisbon, and New York University, where she conducted her postdoctoral research through a MEC/Fulbright fellowship.

Throughout her career, she has participated in numerous national and international research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry, the National Science Foundation, the Consolider Ingenio 2010 Program, the Generalitat Valenciana, and European COST programs, serving as principal investigator in several of them. Her most recent research focuses on the design and synthesis of metallic nanoparticles and polyamine-based systems for biomedical applications, including diagnostics and therapy.

She currently carries out her teaching and research activities at the University of Valencia, where she has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry since 2022.
