Frida Luis Maqueira holds a degree in Audiovisual Communication (Extraordinary Award 2022) and a master's degree in Gender and Equality Policies from the Universitat de València. She has been a collaboration grant holder with the project 'Femme Exotique: Mujer, racialización y erotismo', which is framed within the research lines of the 'Interculturalidad y Comunicación' group (InterCom) and the R+D+i research project 'Representaciones de género en el cine español del siglo XXI. Imaginario fílmico y discursos sociales', directed by Silvia Guillamón Carrasco. She is currently a Research Staff in Training (PIF) at the Universitat de València, where she is working on her doctoral thesis on the representation of Cubanity in contemporary Spanish cinema. Her lines of research focus on film analysis, semiotics, decolonial feminisms and cultural studies.
