Marta Ribeiro is currently a Visiting Professor in the Portuguese Studies Area of the Department of Spanish Philology and the representative of Instituto Camões at the University of Valencia.
She holds a BA in Theatre from the Escola Superior de Artes e Design and the Royal School of Dramatic Art (Madrid). She completed an MA in Theatre and Performing Arts (2022) at the Faculty of Philology and an MA in Artistic Education in Social and Cultural Institutions (2023) at the Faculty of Fine Arts, both from the Complutense University of Madrid. She has received several distinctions for academic excellence, including high honours for her dissertation on censorship in Portuguese theatre under the Estado Novo dictatorship. In 2023, she was awarded the Young Researchers Grant by the Reina Sofía Museum and the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation (Danone), and served as a jury member for the International Festival of Live Arts of Loja (Ecuador).
Since 2017, she has taught theatre, film, Portuguese language, literature, and culture. She has been invited as a specialist lecturer on several occasions at the Faculties of Philology and Fine Arts at the Complutense University, where she has delivered masterclasses in literature, performing arts, cultural management, and European Union arts funding. She has also served as an official examiner for the Portuguese Language Certification Exams, coordinated by Instituto Camões, I.P., and for public institutions such as ICEX, RTVE, and the Ministry of Finance.
She has worked as a translator and instructor of Portuguese language and culture for prestigious institutions and companies, including Movistar plus, Real Madrid, Inditex, and FCC. She also taught Portuguese language and culture at the Babeș-Bolyai University (Romania), under an agreement between Instituto Camões and the Embassy of Portugal in Bucharest. In 2024, she was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard University, where she continued her research in the field of Portuguese History while serving as a Teaching Assistant at Temple University Pennsylvania, United States. In 2025, she was invited as an expert advisor by the Research Group on Twentieth-Century Portuguese Literature and Culture at the National University of Rosario (Argentina).
She has developed several Erasmus+ projects (KA1 and KA2) as an artistic mediator in collaboration with the Bauhaus Museum, framed within the 2030 Agenda and funded by the European Union. In addition to her work as a multidisciplinary artist in productions for RTVE and Netflix, she has received awards and recognition from the Berlinale – Berlin International Film Festival, the Repsol Foundation, RTP, and Temple University.
She is a member of the Jury for the European Studies Book Award of the Council for European Studies (Columbia University) and a reviewer for MARLAS Journal.
She is currently part of the educational innovation project Resonando con ECO: beyond the classroom, within the framework of the Projecte d’Innovació Educativa Emergent (PIEE no. 3897840).
