Biography

I have a degree in Philosophy and Letters from the Universitat de València and I joined the department of Prehistory and Archaeology in 1988. My doctoral thesis (1987) dealt with the village of Los Villares / Kelin in Caudete de las Fuentes, Valencia. Since the end of the studies I was collaborating in excavations and publications of Iberian sites. The reading of the thesis was the trigger to continue field investigations in the same site. At the same time I have participated in research projects and I have also directed them related to Iberian ceramics, economic activities, territorial studies. The most relevant publications have been related to these projects. In recent years, the projects I have directed have dealt with Iberian fauna and flora (From the Real to the Imaginary. Approach to the Iberian Flora during the Iron Age, HUM2004-04939 and From the Real to the Imaginary. The Iberian Fauna of the Iron Age, HAR-2008-3810 / HIST) and the last one (finalized in 2017) deals with objects of hard materials of animal origin (Wood, Bone, Ivory, Antler, Shell. ¿Marginal or marginal crafts?, HAR2013-45770-P). Another line of research is the dissemination of heritage, so I have some collaboration in publications, in European projects (Excellence in Processing Open Cultural Heritage Network of Excellence Duration: 48 months Strategic objective: 2.3.1.12 Technology-enhanced learning and access to cultural heritage , EPOC - EPOCH, 1478 EU and ARCH: Ancient Coinage as Related Cultural Heritage). I collaborate in the implementation of the Ruta dels Ibers promoted by the Museu de Prehistòria de la Diputación de València and since 2004 organized open doors in Kelin site (Caudete de las Fuentes, Valencia). The field works are also part of my CV, in recent years dedicated to the excavation of rural places such as the winery of the Rambla de la Alcantarilla, El Zoquete and Casa de la Cabeza, all of them in Requena and Los Chotiles in Sinarcas, co-directed with G. Pérez Jordà and D. Quixal Santos. In 2017, I started co-directing with D. Quixal Santos the excavation of Pico de los Ajos (Yátova), sponsored by the Yátova City Council.
