Laura holds a degree in English Studies and in Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation (English and German). She has a Master’s in Creative and Humanistic Translation, a Master’s in Advanced English Studies, and a Master’s in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. She holds a PhD in Languages, Literatures and Cultures, and their Applications from the University of Valencia. She has joined the Department of English and German Philology at the University of Valencia as an Assistant Professor.
Her research explores language contact, translation and interpretation in extreme contexts, postmemory, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma, with a particular focus on second-generation Holocaust survivors. She also works on Holocaust and gender literary studies, as well as the metaphorization and representation of animals in Holocaust literature.
She has held two competitive postdoctoral research fellowships: one at Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem, and another at the Institut für Zeitgeschichte in Munich, under the Conny Kristel Fellowship Programme, funded by the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure (EHRI) of the European Union.
