Mónica Martínez López-Sáez is a Ministry of Education Research Fellow-Graduate Teaching Assistant at the Department of Constitutional Law (UVEG). She holds an LLB (High-performance group, top of her class) and an LLM in European Union and International Studies (UVEG) in addition to an M.A. in Institutional Translation (Legal and Economic Translation) by the University of Alicante. She has conducted research at the European Institute of the London School of Economics and Political Science and has furthered her academic training in The Hague Academy of International Law, in L’Institut International des Droits de l’Homme of Strasbourg, and in University Paris-Sorbonne, among others. She started her pre-university education in the United States, where she obtained The President of the United States Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. She has also obtained the University of Cambridge International Legal English Certificate, with merit. In 2016 she was a Blue Book Trainee at the European Commission (DG-HOME) and was awarded the VIII Cañada Blanch Foundation Prize. She currently conducts research in the field of EU data protection, with her primary focus being on digital rights and privacy law. However, her research interests cover the field of Spanish and EU Constitutional Law and she is especially interested in fundamental rights, human rights protection systems and vulnerable persons.
