Biography

Mariángeles Pérez-Martín holds a PhD in Art History (2019, cum laude) and a Master's Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies (2015) from the University of Valencia. She won the National Award for a Bachelor's Degree in Art History (2012) and the Extraordinary Award for a Master's Degree in Art History and Visual Culture, UVEG (2013). Her research focuses on the field of Women's History and Contemporary Art. She has published the book Ilustres e ilustradas. Académicas de Bellas Artes ss. XVIII-XIX (Tirant lo Blanch, 2020). She is Principal Investigator of the Project Art, Historiography and Feminisms (arthistFEM), University of Valencia (GIGE2022/130), funded by the Conselleria of Education, Universities and Employment, Generalitat Valenciana (2023-2024). Member (2022) and Coordinator of the TrencArt Educational Innovation Project. Trencant la Història. Images, texts and contexts for equality in the History of contemporary art (PIEE-3326371/2024), University of Valencia, academic year 2024-2025. Member of the VALuART research group. Valencia, university and art. Art, museums and visual culture, from 1750 to the present, GIUV2015-224 UVEG; and of Relecturas. Museum itineraries in a gender key, UVEG. Collaborator of the R&D project Artists in the Spanish cultural scene and their relationship with Europe, 1803-1945, University of Zaragoza (Ministry of Science, 2021-2025). She has been a member since 2018 of MAV-Women in the Visual Arts, of which she has been Territorial Coordinator (acv) (2021-2024); of the AEIHM-Spanish Association for Research in the History of Women (2016-present) and of the CEHA-Spanish Committee for the History of Art (2015-present). She is currently Head of Initiatives of Activa Cultura UV (2024).
