Pablo Ribes Guardiola is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Psychology at the University of Valencia. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (2011) and a PhD in Psychology (2017) from the University Jaume I of Castelló, within the Psychopathology, Health and Neuropsychology doctoral program.
His main research interests lie in the field of clinical neuroscience. His work focuses on the application of multidomain assessment protocols—integrating self-report measures, cognitive task performance, and peripheral and central psychophysiological indices—to the study of psychopathy and other problems within the externalizing spectrum of psychopathology, with the goal of understanding them in terms of individual differences in threat sensitivity, affiliative capacity, and inhibitory control.
He has held several predoctoral (FPI; Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness; 2012–2016) and postdoctoral fellowships (APOSTD; Generalitat Valenciana and European Social Fund [2018–2020]; PICD-UJI; University Jaume I [2021–2024]) aimed at developing his research career. During these periods, he also completed research stays at internationally recognized centers, including the Clinical Neuroscience Lab (Department of Psychology, Florida State University, Tallahassee, USA; 2014 and 2019–2020) and the Brain, Affect and Cognition Group (Autonomous University of Madrid, Spain; 2024).
He has published articles in international journals in the fields of experimental psychology, psychophysiology, and clinical psychology, and has been awarded one positively evaluated research period (CNEAI). In addition, he has participated in five competitive research projects, acting as principal investigator in one of them: PSI2011-22559 (MICINN), PSI2015-66798-P (MINECO/FEDER), PID2019-104522GB-I00 (MICINN), P1·1B2013-12 (University Jaume I), and UJI-2023-26 (University Jaume I).
He has also presented numerous papers at national and international conferences, and is an active member of several scientific societies in the fields of psychophysiology, cognitive and affective neuroscience, and individual differences: Society for Psychophysiological Research (SPR), Spanish Society of Psychophysiology and Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (SEPNECA), and Ibero-American Association for Research on Individual Differences (AIIDI).
During his pre- and postdoctoral training, he has taught courses in Basic Psychology at the Department of Basic, Clinical and Psychobiological Psychology at the University Jaume I, as well as at the Department of Health Psychology at the University of Alicante. His teaching performance has received overall positive evaluations according to the quality assurance procedures of the University Jaume I (DOCENTIA-UJI program) and the University of Alicante.
