Biography

Pablo Sánchez Izquierdo (Alicante, 1990) earned his PhD in Art History at the Universitat de València (2020), where he is currently teaching since 2023. He has worked at the Museo de Bellas Artes Gravina de Alicante (2014-2015) and he has taught at the Universidad de Oviedo (2021).

He obtained a predoctoral grant (2015-2019) and a postdoctoral contract (2022-2023), both funded by the Spanish Education Ministry. He has carried out four research stays at the Universitat de Barcelona (2017), the Meadows Museum at the Southern Methodist University at Dallas (2018), at the UNED (2022-2023) and at the Real Colegio Complutense at Harvard University (2024).

His research is framed within two main fields: the urban studies, and the orientalism during the XIXth and XXth centuries. He leads the emerging research group ROAR-E: Reflections on Artistic Orientalism in Spain (CIGE/2024/15), funded by the Conselleria d’Educació, Cultura, Universitats i Ocupació of the Generalitat Valenciana.
