Víctor Pérez Béjar is Profesor Ayudante Doctor (‘Assistant Professor’) at the Universitat de València, in the Department of Spanish Philology in the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. He holds a degree in Hispanic Philology, a master’s degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies and a PhD in Philological Studies from the University of Seville. He belongs to the “Argumentación y Persuasión en Lingüística” (Argumentation and Persuasion in Linguistics) (APL) research group. He is currently secretary of the journal Quaderns de Filologia: Estudis Lingüístics/Estudis Literaris. He has been secretary of the Board of Directors of the Asociación de Jóvenes Lingüistas and has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Estudios interlingüísticos, where he is now a member of the scientific committee.
He has participated in several research projects related to Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis, his main research fields. He is currently a member of the research team of the project “Las relaciones en la construcción del discurso: un enfoque multidimensional” (‘Relations in discourse construction: a multidimensional approach’) (PID2021-122115NB-I00). His work deals with topics such as constructional patterns in Spanish, macro-syntax or discourse grammar, or argumentative discourse in different fields (computer-mediated discourse, advertising, institutional or political discourse). He is the author of the book Las construcciones suspendidas en español. Un paradigma en gramática del discurso (‘Suspended constructions in Spanish. A paradigm in discourse grammar’) (2024).
