Jordi Redondo is full professor of Greek Philology at the Universitat de València (founded 1499). His main fields of research are the history of the Ancient Greek language, especially in the Classical and post-Classical ages, syntax, rhetoric, reception of the Ancient Greek literature, and religion.
Both the master degree (1982) and the doctorate degree (1985) were awarded at the Universidad de Salamanca (Spain) under the supervision of Antonio López Eire, Professor of Greek Philology.
After his graduation, he was working as teacher of Greek and Latin at secondary schools of the Basque Country and Catalonia (courses 1982-1986). He developed there a huge interest for didactics.
He became lecturer in Greek Philology at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Galicia) (courses 1987-1990), and lecturer (courses 1990-1991), reader (courses 1991-2011) and professor at the Universitat de València (País Valencià).
His main publications include the critical editions of the orators Antiphon (Barcelona, Fundació Bernat Metge, 2003-2004), Andocides (FBM, 2007-2008) and Alcidamas (FBM, 2015), as well as the Spanish translations of the orators Antiphon and Andocides (Madrid 1991), the poet Callimachus (Madrid, 1999) and the Anatomical Procedures of the physician Galen (Saarbrücken 2018). Scholarly works are the books entitled La tradición clásica en la literatura castellana medieval. Cuatro estudios, Madrid 2013; Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic Greek Poetry: Some Contributions to the Study of the History of the Ancient Greek Language, Amsterdam 2015 (in collaboration with A. Sánchez i Bernet); Para una sociología del griego antiguo: estudio de los sociolectos de la lengua griega: épocas clásica, helenística e imperial, Madrid 2016; and La tradición clásica en la literatura religiosa del Siglo de Oro. Tratado místico y oratoria sagrada, Beau Bassin 2019.
Intended for teaching Greek religion, Greek literature and Greek syntax at the universitary level are the handbooks Introducció a la religió i la mitologia gregues, València 2006; Teoria i història literàries gregues, València 2009 (online); and Curs de Sintaxi Grega, València 2011 (online).
Eight doctoral thesis under his supervision have been presented (S. Sancho-Montés 1996; J.V. Bañuls 1997; À. Ortolà 2000; S. Santafé 2005; M. Esteve 2009; Á.Narro 2013; J.J. Pomer 2015; A. Sánchez i Bernet 2020).
As visiting scholar his research stays include Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands and Russia. He has been also referee and member of the panel of international doctoral theses, referee of research projects and international evaluator for professional promotions.
He has been also attendant at conferences helded in the Basque Country, Catalonia, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Switzerland, and organizer himself of conferences held at Lleida (1987) and València (1997, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 (twice), 2013, 2014, 2015 (twice), 2016 and 2017). Research programmes under his direction have been developed from 2000 onwards, in the fields of the history of the Greek language and the reception of the ancient Greek literature. These programmes included the formation of young researchers (Á. Narro, A. Sánchez i Bernet). He is now involved in the creation of a research group working in the concrete field of sociolinguistics.
He has been member of conference organizing commitees in Catalonia, Italy and Spain, and reviewer of journals published in Argentina, Canada, Catalonia, France, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the USA.
He has been responsible of several academic programmes and activities: co-director with Xavier Gómez i Font († 09/13/2009) of the Master in Didactics of the Greek and Latin Languages and Cultures (1994-1996); the programme of academic exchanges (2001-2008); and the master of paedagogical formation (2009-2018).
He has been awarded with sabbatical licenses in 2004, 2008 and 2018.
He is member of three scientific societies:

- Société Internationale Renardienne / International Renardian Society.
- Associació Internacional de Llengua i Literatura Catalanes.
