He is a member of IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control) and CEA (Comité Español de Automática). His research is related to digital computer architectures for efficient data processing and computing. Currently, his main work is related to artificial intelligence algorithm hardware implementation, especially neural networks in different types: Feed Forward, Spiking, Convolutional, Deep Neural Networks, etc. His research is oriented to biomedical and industrial applications, including their control systems and automation. He holds 4 six-year state recognized research activity periods (sexenio investigación) and 1 technology transfer state recognized period (sexenio transferencia).

He has published more than 60 research papers in international scientific journals, presented more than 80 congress works and collaborated in several book chapters. He has been on sabbatical leave in Germany, Finland, Argentina, Mexico and India, and participated in different research projects under regional, national and European consortia. He has collaborated with numerous private companies for technology transfer projects related to automation, industry 4.0 and IoT.

He has supervised 7 PhD Theses (two of them with dual international program) and has participated in the evaluation of research projects (Spain, France, Mexico, etc.). He has also participated as a member of several PhD thesis examination committees in Doctoral Programs in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. He holds one patent and two software Intellectual property programs. He has participated in invited talks and seminars in Spain, Morocco, India, Finland, Ecuador, and Kazakhstan.

Regarding teaching activity, he has been continuously teaching in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Universitat de València since the 1995, in undergraduate, master, and PhD levels, in subjects related to digital electronic design, industrial automation, and signal acquisition and processing.

He has supervised more than 20 master’s Theses and 90 bachelor’s Theses. She has participated in 2 teaching innovation projects (one of them as principal investigator) and multiple teaching training workshops, with some teaching-related publications in international conferences.

He was Rector’s delegate for International Relations (7 years), Faculty vice-dean (3 years) and participated in multiple management committees in departmental, faculty, and university levels.
