Salvador Roca Marquina has a degree in Physical Sciences from the Universitat de València. He has been professor at the University School of Informatics at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.  Expert in IT Services Management of Universities by the University of Castilla La Mancha. For more than 30 years he has been a staff member of the Servei d'Informàtica de la Universitat de València, where he has been working as an analyst, systems technician, assistant director and director. Roca has participated in the development and implementation of management applications such as student enrollment, personnel and payroll management, access tests and university pre-enrollment, degrees, study plans, teacher management plan and offer of academic course. He has also been a database administrator and head of the Information Systems and Services group, responsible for the administration and management of servers, administration and management of digital library servers and electronic publications, administration of web services, mail , disk and file server in multiple platforms, the management of authentication security and directory services, the implementation and control of value-added services, webmail, blogs, multimedia services, among others. Since 2002, he coordinates the Virtual Secretariat project, and from the beginning of the implementation of the project he heads the development and support group of the Virtual Classroom, a project awarded by the Social Council in 2006.

Likewise, he has worked as head of the management group for backup processes, safeguarding and recovering data in different information system environments and storage system administration. Since March 2007, he coordinated the supercomputing support team, integrating it in the systems group and in the administration of the computers of intensive calculation such as the Tirant (integrated in the Spanish Supercomputing Network) or Lluís Vives, supercomputer installed in the Servei d'Informàtica

In January 2012, he was appointed Head of the Computer Service of the Universitat de València, a position he held until March 2016.

Salvador Roca has participated in different activities of the Universitat de València: advisor of the Commission of Reform of the New Plans of Study in 1990-91, advisor of the norms of management of enrollment and academic file and of the norm of ordination on priorities and free choice Member of the working group of axis 7 for the development of the Strategic Plan of the Universitat de València in 2006, has been part of the Evaluation Committee of the Call for Aid for projects in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education and learning and in different courts of selective tests for access to different jobs of the University. From his access to the University of Valencia he participates on training tasks for the use of new technologies, applications and information systems both in the University and in other Public Administrations like a professor of courses organized by the Permanent Training Service, University Extension courses, courses of the Nau dels Estudiants and other courses directed to Administration and Services Staff and Professors of the University. He has also participated like a professor in the Master in Systems and Services of the Information Society of the Universitat de València in 2010.

He has given lectures and presented papers in different forums such as the RedIRIS Conference of 2007, the V Congress of Application of New Technologies in Presential Teaching and e-learning organized at the Cardenal Herrera University-CEU in 2006, in the Hispanic Forum of .LRN and Free Educational Software in 2005 in Madrid and organizer and speaker at the Hispanic Forum of LRN and in the 7th Conference of OPENACS in 2008 in our university. He has also lectured and participated in round tables in different editions of the Computer Engineering Congress of the Valencian Community and seminars and courses of the Master's Program in Management and Production of the Institute of Management Training (IFEDE) at the CESEM in Valencia and courses of new technologies and data protection.

He has participated as an assistant and as a speaker in different editions of the Workshops and Working Groups of RedIris and of the CRUE ICT Sector.

He is currently responsible for the Systems and Storage Infrastructure Area of ​​the Servei d'Informàtica of the Universitat de València.

Until October 2021, he has been responsible for the Systems and Storage Infrastructure Area of the Servei d'Informàtica of the Universitat de València and is currently responsible for the Opencast project.
