Silvia Guillamón Carrasco holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication (Extraordinary Award, 2014), a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Communication and in Hispanic Philology, and a Master's degree in Language Sciences and Human Relations. She is an Associate Professor of Audiovisual Communication at the University of Valencia. She has taught at the International University of Valencia and the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and has been a visiting researcher at UCSC (University of California, Santa Cruz), UMASS (University of Massachusetts, Amherst), Università di Bologna (Italy), Leipzig Universität (Germany), Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina), and Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Her research focuses on the intersection between semiotics, feminism, gender theory, and Spanish cinema.
