Biography

Daria Terrádez Salom holds a PhD in Constitutional Law with an international mention from the University of Valencia, where she defended the thesis The European Social Charter in the Spanish Constitutional Order, distinguished with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. She also has a degree in Law, specialising in Public Law, from the University of Valencia, and has completed an online Master's Degree in International Migration and Immigration Law. She has also completed a Degree in Political Science and Administration from the UNED. She is currently working as a senior postdoctoral researcher in the Department of International Law "Adolfo Miaja de la Muela" of the University of Valencia. She also teaches the subject of Public International Law at the Faculty of Law and combines it with her work as a Professor-Tutor at the UNED, in different university degrees such as Criminology, Social and Cultural Anthropology and Political Science. In relation to her language skills, she is fluent in three languages, French, English and Italian, in addition to Valencian.

Her main lines of research focus on fundamental rights, both from a national and international and comparative perspective, with special attention to social rights and their guarantee mechanisms, particularly the European Social Charter and the European Committee of Social Rights. She has also researched on International Human Rights Law, European Union Law, focusing on issues such as poverty and social exclusion, migrant people. Due to her background in Political Science, she has researched issues related to political violence in dictatorial regimes, repressive law, racism and xenophobia, hate speech and other manifestations of violation of human dignity. In addition to this, she has a diverse professional career, with experience in the regional administration, project management, the legal field, health, education and the third sector, highlighting, among other positions, that of Director General of Relations with the European Union and the State of the Generalitat Valenciana for almost seven years.

Among her most relevant publications, the monograph The European Social Charter in the Spanish Constitutional Order (Athenaica, 2018), a work on the normative force, justiciability and centrality of social rights in the Spanish constitutional system, stands out. Along with this monograph, works such as "The application of the European Social Charter through regional legislation. Chronicle of a State-Autonomous Region Disparity", "Fight against social exclusion and poverty. The necessary ratification of the revised European Social Charter and its protocol on collective complaints in Spain", "The right to decent housing as a precondition for the enjoyment of other fundamental rights", "Right to health, irregular immigration and linkage to the pronouncements of international supervisory bodies: chronicle of a Canadian grotesque" and, more recently, "Housing as a fundamental right. International commitments beyond the guiding principle" and "Full citizenship and education in rights: an essential tandem". Her scientific production reflects a career solidly committed to the defence of social rights, the protection of vulnerable groups and the study of European and international human rights law.
