Biography

Degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the University of Valencia with Mark of Distinction, Promotion 1982 - 1987, Economics Section, Specialty: Conjunctural Analysis and Public Sector. PhD in Financial Economics from the University of Valencia.

Winner of the SCOR Actuarial Prize for Spain and Portugal, 2nd Edition, Foundation SCOR for Science, November 19, 2014 (jointly with Dr. Carlos Vidal Meliá) and awarded the second prize in the 1st Edition of the Longevia Awards, Instituto BBVA Pensiones, February 7, 2020 . He has published articles in internationally relevant scientific journals such as: Mathematical Social Sciences, ASTIN Bulletin (2), Applied Economics, Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, International Social Security Review, Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, Sustainability, Journal of Population Ageing, SORT, Economic Research-Ekonomska Istraživanj, International Journal for Equity in Health, Public Money & Management, Insurance: Mathematics and Economics o Quality & Quantity. His areas of interest in research are social security (NDC, DB, Actuarial/Social Insurance Accounting, Table 29), pensions (Old Age and Invalidity, LCA), public health (Disability, LTC, socioeconomic factors) and the application of optimization and optimal control models in economics and finance.

Research Scholar (academic year 1986-1987) and Professor at the UV since November, 1987 (TEUI ~ Interim Professor) until November 15, 2023 (TU ~ Associate  Professor). His teaching experience includes mathematics, computer science, finance, banking, insurance and pensions. 

For the teaching activity developed in the period 2017-2022, he obtained the Excellent Qualification in the DOCENTIA Program.

Concerning academic management, he was the first Academic Secretary of the Departament d'Economia Financera i Actuarial headed by Dr. Mª Paz Jordá Durá (2002-2009) and he was Director of the Master's Degree in Actuarial and Financial Sciences (2019-2021).
