Born in Catarroja (Valencia) in 1956, is graduated and doctor in Mathematical Sciences by the University of Valencia in 1978 and 1982, respectively.  Full University Professor in Applied Mathematics since 1991. He has been head of the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Universitat Politècnica de València, between 1992-2002. He is head of the University Institute of Research in Cross-disciplinary Mathematics since its foundation in 2004. He holds five six-year periods of research and has directed 30 doctoral theses. He is co-author of 410 research articles. He has been in charge of competitive research projects since 1988. He is currently in charge of the Spanish team within the European Project entitled STRIKE which is based on the use of computational methods in finances. He is editor in several international journals specialised in topics such as Modelling and Numerical Methods.
