A total of 107 students from the University of Valencia received grants from Banco Santander in March for students affected by the natural disaster of 29 October 2024. These grants were worth €2,000 and were compatible with the University's scholarships, allowing severely affected students to receive up to €4,500.

A total of 107 students from the Universitat de València benefited from the Grants that Banco Santander, each one from 2.000 euros. This aid was intended to mitigate the financial difficulties caused by the storm, with the aim of ensuring that students could continue their academic education.

The call of the programme, managed by Universia, included 550 grants, with funding of 1.1 million euros, for students from different Valencian universities. More than 2,500 applications were received, which shows its high demand and social relevance.

This aid was compatible with the scholarships that the UV launched after the storm, a plan that mobilised €1.5 million and enabled 490 additional scholarships to be awarded: 176 scholarships of €2,500 for very serious cases, 269 of €2,000 for serious cases and 45 of €1,500 for moderate situations. This meant that students who were seriously affected and requested both scholarships, could receive up to €4,500, a crucial relief in times of adversity.

The diploma ceremony was held at Marina de València, at Insioma quarterships. During the event, Principal of the Universitat de València, Maria Vicenta Mestre, handled out diplomas to three students: Ismael Bravo, from Paiporta; Aitana Calpe, from Beniparrell; and María Isabel Costa, from Catarroja.

During the institutional speeches, the director of Universia, Susana García Espinel, and the president of Santander Universities, Matías Rodríguez Inciarte, thanked the University of Valencia for its support and collaboration in managing this project.
