The Faculty of Pharmacy will host this first virology congress, which aims to bring the knowledge of viruses and their application in multiple fields closer to the public. Seven virologists will participate, whose contribution will stimulate the debate.

The 1st Virology Congress aims to bring the knowledge of viruses closer to anyone interested in the field, including a wide range of topics, from the presentation of different viral families, to their application in biotechnology, industry, research, biomedicine, therapeutic treatments, etc.

The potential use of viruses is far greater than most people are aware of, and the term encompasses much more than pathogenesis and disease. Those interested in attending this event can do so free of charge. The papers will take place in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Burjassot Campus on Wednesday 22 (from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and Thursday 23 February (from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).

Numerous specialists in virology will attend the congress: Alejandra Larrieux will address the decoding of cellular resistances to oncolytic viruses. Rodrigo Sánchez will focus on halophilic viruses and how to govern a hostile environment. Laura Gadea will explain how the subcellular proteome is modulated by the Influenza A virus in human cells. Luciana Busu's conference will focus on the experimental evolution of picornavirus populations. Robbie Concha will share research on predicting host tropism from the depolymerase sequence in phages targeting Klebsiella pneumoniae. Noemí Navarro will offer a study of the interaction of rotaviruses B, C and H with human intestinal glycans. And finally, Aitana Llorenç will review the conclusions of the study of the virus-host relationship in marine environments over time.
