The emergence of new technologies (contratation platforms, archive and remote management systems, intensive use of Artificial Intelligence tools) is modifying the way labour rights specialists work for companies and employers, and their impact on regulated jobs linked to the social-labour area is growing stronger. This calls for a study to evaluate these changes and the new paths, so the General Council of Labour Rights Specialists on the state level has requested Universitat de València to take on research on the future of this career.

The study ‘The future of labour rights specialists: Technological challenges and opportunities in the digital era’ is lead by Department of Labour and Social Security Law professor Adrián Todolí will bring a strategic analysis on how artificial intelligence and digitalisation influence this collective’s professional practice.

The implementation of new technologies has improved the access to updated information and provided the emergence of new business models that externalise the role of labour-legal assessment or that automate a part of the tasks that were traditionally conducted by professionals. The growing complexity of the labour area and Social Security along with the immediate demand of customers have become a need for labour rights specialists to orient their work towards a higher cost services. To survive and grow in this new context, educational and skill adaptation to answer the market and opportunities is needed in order to keep up with emergent technologies.

Spain is already introducing Artificial Intelligence and process automation in the labour and HR sector in both the labour rights specialists and university areas, betting on vision to avoid a mismatch between training received and professional reality needs.

The general aim for the study is to offer a complete analysis of the current situation of this career regarding digital transformation, and a strategic plan to face the upcoming challenges for the Justifica Social Foundation of the Council of Labour Rights Specialists.

Professor Todolí will elaborate a diagnosis of the current situation of the sector and anticipate future tendencies, with special emphasis on digitalisation processes and technological tools. From this analysis, a strategy that provides tools and knowledge for graduates to give value to their work and adapt to change in the market will be developed.

This document will serve as basis to guide policies in training and education to support professionals determined to implement the General Council of Labour Rights Specialists.

This is the second study of this nature professor Adrián Todolí is in charge of. Todolí already conducted a previous study of artificial intelligence in legal jobs along with a team of Universitat de València professors.
