Antonio Martínez is elected as the new dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Podiatry of the Universitat de València. He replaces professor Antoni Merelles Tormo, whose two mandates have already expired. Martínez obtained 18 votes in favour, out of a total of 23 members.
The new team lead by the dean includes Maria Luisa Estarlich, as secretary of the faculty; Vanessa Sánchez, vice-dean of Studies; M. Carmen Giménez, vice-dean of Internships; Omar Cauli, vice-dean of Research and International; and Enmanuel Navarro, vice-dean of Podiatry.
Antonio Martínez Sabater (Gandia, 1975) was a professor in the Department of Nursing at the UV. He has been accredited as Associate Professor. He graduated in Nursery in the Universitat de València (1993-1996). He studied the Master’s degree in Nursing Sciences (University of Alacant), Master’s degree in Nursing Research (University of Alacant) and the Master’s degree in Social Gerontology (Universitat de València). He has been named Doctor by the University of Alacant. He is a full member of the Nursing Academy of the Valencian Community.
At the health care level, he has developed his activity in the field of social and health care, primary care and specialised care in the Health Departments of Gandia and the Hospital Clínic. Nurse specialist in Geriatrics and Gerontology, he is currently working as a general supervisor at the Hospital Clínic Universitari, occupying an associated post.
In the teaching field, he has developed his university teaching activity in the Department of Nursing, where he has been responsible for different subjects (practicum, community nursing, etc.). In addition, he has been director of the department and coordinator of the centre's practicum.
As a researcher, he has published various research studies on quality of life in haematological patients and palliative care, among others, published in JCR-indexed journals.
