Following the declaration of a level 2 emergency across all Universitat de València campuses and facilities, the Faculty of Geography and History’s Welcome Day, scheduled for today, Thursday 17 September, has been postponed
This decision has been taken in response to flooding and disruption affecting several transport routes, as well as cancellations and changes to public transport services. Our priority is to prevent potentially unsafe journeys and protect the entire university community.
This is a temporary postponement, not a permanent cancellation
The Faculty remains fully committed to holding the event, which was designed as a major opportunity for students to meet, access information, enjoy cultural activities and take part in university life. As soon as circumstances allow and all the activities can be coordinated again, we will announce a new date and relaunch the full programme.
We would particularly like to thank all the services, units, programmes and organisations, both within and outside the Universitat de València, that had confirmed their participation. We greatly appreciate the organisational effort already made and hope to count on their valuable support again on the new date.
We would also like to thank all the students who were planning to attend, meet the participating services, take part in the activities, have their photographs taken at the photocall and share in the music, Valencian culture and Welcome Day celebrations.
We know that many people were looking forward to this event. So were we. That is why we will work to reschedule it as soon as possible and ensure that it can take place safely and with every necessary guarantee.
The new date will be announced through the Faculty’s website, social media accounts and official communication channels
In the meantime, we recommend following the instructions issued by the emergency services, avoiding unnecessary travel and checking the Universitat de València’s official channels for the latest information.
