Computer Service is making a substantial improvement in the speed, quality and coverage of the wireless network in the physical spaces of all the campus. This improvement attends to an increasing demand in our campus for the incorporation of new devices and habits of work.

The main improvements are the following:

  • 1.- We will move from approx. 1500 APs to 3000. Increasing the number of APs means better coverage in all UV spaces as well as allowing more users connected with better quality due to less distance to the 'AP.
  • 2.- The APs happen to work with protocol 802.11g the majority to 802.11ac with APs of greater capacity of process. This also allows for a greater number of client for AP in addition to using the band of 5 GHz, much less saturated than the 2.4 GHz. The new APs have a connection capacity of devices up to 1700 Mbps compared to the previous 54 Mbps, depending on the capabilities of the clients.
  • 3.- The new wireless network service controllers have the capacity of up to 40,000 simultaneous clients and 40 Gbps aggregates of traffic.
