Inauguration of the fifty-third AERELABO Congress

The Assembly Hall of the Social Sciences Library 'Gregorio Mayans' of the Tarongers Campus has hosted the opening of the fifty-third edition of the Congress of the State Association of Students and Former Students of Labour Relations (AERELABO) which this year is entitled 'Evolution in Labour Sciences: a necessity for the challenges of the 21st century'.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the rector of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Albert Moncusí, the president of the General Council of Social Graduates of Spain, Ricardo Gabaldón, the president of the College of Social Graduates of València and of the Valencian Council of Social Graduates, Carmen Pleite, the president of AERELABO, Silvia Peña, and the president of the Organizing Committee of the LVIII AERELABO Congress, Jaime Piqueras.

The current edition focuses on some of the contemporary problems affecting the world of work, both locally and nationally. Thus, aspects such as conciliation, co-responsibility and gender equality, current legal systems and future developments or modifications, collaborative economy, social justice or trade union and student participation will be analysed. 

In her words, the rector Mª Vicenta Mestre highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of the congress programme, which deals with subjects ranging from law, economics, labour relations and human resources to others related to psychology and communication or disciplines such as data protection. In addition, the rector has brought attention to the fact that social aspects 'are one of the concerns that the University has as a public university and committed to a free and inclusive society.

 AERELABO is the state-wide association formed by the different delegations of students from the centres that teach the degree in Labour Relations and Human Resources and its variants; students and graduates of the old Labour Relations and Labour Sciences plans also take part. With more than 20 years of experience as a state association, the association brings together a large number of faculties and schools in Spain, maintaining direct contact with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the General Council of Colleges of Social Graduates of Spain and the Association of Labour Relations and Human Resources Centres (ARELCIT).
