The Universitat de València has launched its new application for mobile devices in an event held at the Matilde Salvador Hall of the La Nau building. Representatives of the different collectives of the university community have attended this event.
The University has presented the new appUV to the university community and society in general at the Matilde Salvador Hall of the historical building of the Universitat, La Nau. This new tool is a result of the collaboration between the University and Santander Universidades, and constitutes a new digital window that connects, informs and uplifts the public experience with the UV.
The presentation was given by the director of communication of the Universitat de València, Joan Enric Úbeda; the director of Digital Business Development of Banco Santander, Jorge de Velasco; and the head of the Web and Marketing Unit of the UV, Josep Gonzalbo. It was attended by the Principal of the Universitat de València, M. Vicenta Mestre; the president of Santander Universities, Matías Rodríguez; members of the Executive Council, and a large number of deans, as well as student representatives.
The appUV, which is available for iOS and Android, was launched in September 2023 and has required more than a year of work by the UV Computer Service, the UV Web and Marketing Unit and the Santander team. The work of more than thirty people has made it possible to launch a tool that offers more than 50 services and is being adopted very quickly. To date, more than 50% of students have already downloaded it and make regular use of it. Technical, Management, Administration and Services Staff downloaded it by 25% and 15% of Teaching and Research Staff.
This tool has been designed to offer an easy and direct access to the most relevant information and resources of the institution, promoting a rich and connected experience. As explained by Jorge de Velasco, director of Digital Business Development of Banco Santander, the app allows access to all online services of the UV, both e-government and daily management.
It also allows each user to customise the different services they want to use on a regular basis, making it one of the most customisable applications currently available.
Along with these services typical of a university mobile app, as explained by the head of the UV Web and Marketing Unit, Josep Gonzalbo, the UV has developed exclusive services such as a virtual tour of its facilities with extended information on services, its connection with the heritage database and with real-time information on bus lines, metro and Valenbisi services available to the university campuses.
The director of Marketing and Communication of the UV, Joan Enric Úbeda, highlighted the innovative character of the UV and, in particular, of its communication area, highlighting the development of its own technology in systems aimed at the two-way communication of the UV with its public following a relational marketing approach.
The Principal of the UV, M. Vicenta Mestre, highlighted the UV's aim to excel, a public university, Valencian but with a global reach, leader in the main university rankings. In this sense, he underlined the ambition to continue increasing the services offered by the app in the university community.
The president of Santander Universities, Matías Rodríguez, highlighted Santander Bank's commitment to universities, articulated through Universia, which brings together a total of 1,300 universities in 25 countries and to which the bank has allocated more than 2,200 million euros.
Collaboration between the University and Banco Santander
Both institutions have collaborated closely on the basis of the Crue App project, an initiative between Santander and Crue Universities that established the basis for the development of an computer science tool that would provide a solution to the needs of the different universities and that could also be adapted to the particularities of each one.
In this way, the presentation of the application also served to sign the agreement that stipulates the basis of this collaboration. An agreement signed in the Offices of the Principal of La Nau by the principal and the president of Santander Universities, which details the conditions of this collaboration.
