Dr Alfonso Novales Cinca. Born in 26-January- 1952 in Zaragoza Academic Numerary of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences. Graduated in Mathematical Sciences by the Universidad de Zaragoza (1974). Master’s degree in Economics (1981). Doctor in Economics by the University of Minnesota (1983), Thesis Director, Christopher A. Sims, Nobel Prize laureated in Economics in 2011.

Doctor in Mathematical Sciences by the University of the Basque Country (Bilbao, 1982). Assistant Professor of Economics at the State University of New York (StonyBrook, 1983-1985). Full university professor of Foundations of Economic Analysis since 1988. Head of the Department of Quantitative Economics of the Complutense University in several periods.

Visitant researcher at the University of Yale (1991). Visitant professor of the Doctoral Programme of the Universities of Yokohama and Jeio (Tokyo) in Japan, in 2001, 2003 and 2006.

President of the Spanish Association of Economy (AEE) (1999). Elected as an Honourable Member of the AEE in 2007. Researcher and Director of the FEDEA (Foundation for the Study of Applied Economics) (1986-1991). Member of the Advisory Council in Social Sciences of the Ramón Areces Foundation.  Member (2004-2005) and President (2005-2007) of the advisory council of the Campo 8 at the CNEAI. Coordinator and member of the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme in Banking and Quantitative Finance (with a quality mention by the Ministry of Education since its creation in 2001).

He has directed 17 doctoral thesis, four of which received the Extraordinary Award bestowed by each university. Director of 26 Master’s degree theses. Author of several works published in national and international journals, of manuals on Statistics, Econometry, Macroeconomics and Economic development, research books on Monetary Policies, labour market and industrial economy in Spanish economy, editorial articles on economy published in Spanish economic newspapers and co-director of several periodical reviews on national and international economy which were developed under the orders of publich and private institutions.
