Successful participation in the IAIOS Festival 2026, with more than 500 attendees

More than 500 elderly people met at the Universitat de València to enjoy a day of physical exercise, health and active coexistence.

On March 27, the UV held a 9th edition of the IAIOS Festival, an initiative already consolidated that brought together over the entire morning more than 500 elderly people around physical activity, health and active coexistence. The day highlighted the role of physical exercise in improving the quality of life and autonomy of this group.

Actividades para todos los gustos

The participants could take part in a very broad program of activities prepared to increase the strength, mobility, coordination and balance. Among the suggested excersises, they promoted a workshop on line dancing, chair dancing, merengue, danza, streching, nordic walking, orientation, various recreation games, that allow to stay active in a playful and safe environment.

The festival also organized a multicomponent functional training workshop focused on the elderly (EFAM-UV©), aimed at improving functional capacity through postural correction work and walking education. Throughout the day, the attendees were accompanied by students of Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, as well as by physical trainers from the Association for Training with Seniors (ECM), who were responsible for guiding and supervising each activity.

Research and training for the elderly

It was an event organized by the Sport Performance and Physical Fitness Research Group (UIRFIDE) of the Univesitat de València, a group led by a researcher Cristina Blasco-Lafarga. This team works with an aim of improving the life quality of the elderly by doing safe physical exercises and designing training programs.

In addition, it has the Master’s degree in Physical Preparation, improving health and performance in the elderly.
Also, the work of graduates in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, professionals specialized in creating and supervising physical exercise programs adapted to the needs of this sector of the population was highlighted.
