The Universitat de València honours Vicent Andrés Estellés in the 25th anniversary of his death. Estellés is considered the most important contemporary Valencian poet and one of the main figures of written poetry in Catalan during the 20th century.
The act will take place in the Assembly Hall of La Nau at 7 p.m. It will consist in a panel of discussion on poetry. Carmina Andrés (Vicent’s daughter), Jordi Oviedo (UCV) and Vicent Salvador (UJI) will participate in the discussion. Ferran Carbón (UV) will moderate it.
As the professor Ferran Carbó indicates, the long literary production of Vicent Andrés Estellés (over a hundred pieces of work) was first published in 1953 with Ciutat a cau d’orella. His poetical life finished in 1992 with Mare de terra. Carbo explains that his long literary career can be divided in two main periods. On the one hand, there are the post-war decades. On the other hand, the 70’s and the 80’s. “In the first period, Estellés was the poet of the Valencian post-war era because of the themes he addressed and the singularity of his production. In the second period, he became the national poet of Valencians because of his importance and his new production” he adds.
Two months after his death in 1993, he was awarded a posthumous honorary degree by the Universitat de València.
