Last July, Universitat de València presented the Chair for Climate Change, Territory and Environmental Risks in the Mediterranean for the research and study of climate emergency. This event, dedicated to the Chair promoted by UV, also introduced two new publications: 'Evidències científiques, efectes, estratègies i polítiques públiques sobre canvi climàtic i territori al Mediterrani Ibèric' (PUV) and 'Canvi Climàtic i territori al Mediterrani Ibèric' (Tirant).
Espai Vives of the Universitat de València held last July the official presentation of the new Chair for Climate Change, Territory and Environmental Risks in the Mediterranean, an academic initiative that aims to analyse and disseminate the effects of climate change in the Mediterranean territory, as well as providing useful tools for the public and social decision-making.
The act also served to present two recent publications linked to the Chair:
- 'Evidències científiques, efectes, estratègies i polítiques públiques sobre canvi climàtic i territori al Mediterrani Ibèric' (PUV)
 - Canvi Climàtic i territori al Mediterrani Ibèric (Tirant lo Blanch)

Both works were directed and coordinated by the full-time university professors Joan Romero and Ana Camarasa, and take the conclusions of the 1st Expert Conference about climate change and territory, celebrated on January 2025.
The presentation was led by the full-time university professor of Human Geography Dolors Pitarch, who underlined the importance of this Chair as an space for reflection and action before these environmental challenges. To continue, Luis Demani, illustrator and artistic director of the works, in representation of the Associació de Professionals de la Il-lustració Valenciana (Valencian Association for Professional Illustrators) intervened. Demani reclaimed the role of visual communication to make accessible the academic contents to society, and has reminded that in the project 14 illustrators had participated, with a typography designed by a creator affected by the DANA.
The emeritus full-time university professor Joan Romero, co-director of the Chair, has expressed his pride on the leadership of the UV in social transformation through science. Moreover, he has reminded that “there is still a lot of pedagogy about climate change left, their consequences and the necessary actions to relieve it”.
For her part, Ana Camarasa, full-time university professor of Physical Geography, has pointed out how books resulted from the reflection coming from the DANA which gravely affected the province of Valencia: “It hasn’t been until now, when climate change consequences have struck us, that we have began to be conscious on the gravity of the matter”.
The act concluded with the intervention of the Principal Maria Vicenta Mestre, who reaffirmed the compromise of the Universitat de València with science and knowledge transfer: “Only from knowledge we will be able to comprehend the challenges we are facing and provide real solutions”.
