The University celebrates a joint act to recognise the UV Olympics

The event has taken place in the Main Hall of La Nau and has been presided over by the Principal of the Universitat de València, Mª Vicenta Mestre, alongside with the Vice-Principal for Employment and Formative Programmes, Adela Valero, and the delegate of the Principal for UV Incorporation, Mª José Lorente.

A total of 62 students of 320 centres of the Valencian Community have obtained an award for winning any of the 11 Olympics that the Universitat de València has organised in the 2017-2018 edition.

The Dean if the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Mª Carmen Baño, the Dean of the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication, Amparo Ricos, the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, Adela Mauri, the Vice-Dean for Participation, Voluntary Work, Economic Equality; and the Vice-Dean of Studies and Academic Organization of Geography and History, Marta García were present at the event.

 Joan Escrivá, Irene Máñez, Cristina Vidal, Ana Blas, Marc Balanzá, Ainhoa Martín, Javier Lozano, Inés Irles, Pablo Ferrando i Aida Sanvíctor were awarded in the Olympics of Biology from a total of 316 students. The coordinators of Biology were the professors Mª José Lorente and José F. Pertusa.

146 students participated in the 9th edition of the Classical Olympics. Ana María, Dian Iskrenov, Paula Martínez, Dídac Lorente, Anesa Muslimovic and Sira Pellicer were awarded.  Concepción Ferragut and Jordi Sanchis were the coordinators of the Classical Olympics.

Sergio Alonso, Jorge Martínez, Lucía Doménech, Blanca Hernández, Jorge González, Carlos Álvaro, Eva Min Pérez, Andrea Matoses, Lucía María Rodríguez and Aléxia Sellés are the winners of the 16th Olympics of Economy. It was coordinated by Amparo Gimeno. A total of 241 students participated in this call.

The 10th edition of the Olympics of Philosophy has been coordinated by Jesús Alcolea. They have awarded Elsa Busquier, Laura Giménez and Lucía Andreu from a total of 64 students. Chantal Ferrer is the coordinator of the 29th Olympics of Physics. She awarded Félix Moreno, Javier Alegre, Marc Benito, Ahmad Saleh, Vicent Pons and Paula Pérez from a total of 63 students.

Carla Granero, Damián Pérez and Rafael Romero were awarded from a total of 60 students in the 10th Edition of the Geography Olympics. Rafael Viruela and Alejandro Pérez are the coordinators. There were 188 students participating in the 9th Olympic edition of Geology, which was coordinated by Miguel V. Pardo. Joan Escrivà, Víctor Albiñana and Isabel Escrig were the awarded students.

Marta García is the coordinator of the 5th Olympics of History. Javier Segarra, Victoria Sanahuja and Carlos Castillo were awarded from a total of 71 students.  The Mathematical Olympics is the oldest one (54th edition). It was coordinated by Domingo García. A total of 78 students participated, from which Félix Moreno, Leonardo Costa, Héctor Sanchís, Juli Carrión, Andrés Gutiérrez and Pablo Molina were awarded.

The coordinators of Chemistry are José M. Moratal and Juan José Borrás. They awarded Eduardo Santos, Álvaro Blázquez, Tomás Sabater, Paula Inés Gascó, Daniel Peñalver and José María Galindo from a total of 146 students.

Finally, the 7th edition of the Valencian Language Olympics was coordinated by Emili Casanova. A total of 176 students participated in the Olympics and Martina Carceller, Patricia Fuentes, Alba Serra, Amparo Taberner, Marcos González and Álvaro González were awarded.

In her speech, the Principal Mª Vicenta Mestre highlighted that “being here today is the result of joint efforts of a lot of people: the coordinators of the Olympics, the teachers of the educational centres, the students and their families.”
