The UV has won 6 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals at the Spanish University Championships in athletics, weightlifting, tennis and equestrianism

The team of athletes of the Universitat de València continues to reap success in the Spanish University Championships (CEU) of 2023, which are being held these days in different Spanish cities, most of them in Castilla y León.

The athletics championships, where the UV won 5 golds and 2 bronzes, were held from 21 to 23 April in León. Maria González was Spanish champion in triple jump. Carmen Marco also climbed to the top of the podium in 200-meter dash. Pablo Drees won gold in 400-meter hurdles. Andrea Rodríguez was Spanish champion in 800 metres. Elena Guiu won another gold medal in 100-meter dash. The bronze medals went to Diego Rosalén, in pole vault; and Enrique Herreros, in 1500 metres.

The weightlifting CEU took place in Salamanca, in the Unamuno pavilion, from 21 to 22 April. The UV weightlifter Cristina Flor Besó won the silver medal in the -55kg category and obtained the Spanish record in two-stage lift with 89kg and the 4th best mark of the championship. Natalia Galindo (cat.-55) and Gemma Atiénzar (cat.-71) also participated in the weightlifting tournament, under the orders of coach Pablo Gallach.

The tennis CEU was held in Valladolid from 17 to 20 April. The UV team won 3 silver medals, a bronze and a silver by teams. The silver medals went to Gema Lairon, in women's singles; Mar Ribera and Mireia Moret, in women's doubles; and Mar Ribera and Ricardo Soriano, in mixed doubles. Pablo Montañés won bronze in the men's singles category. Ricardo Soriano and Gonzalo Sánchez also participated in the tournament, taking 5th place in men's doubles. Thanks to the work of the whole team, the UV came second in the overall ranking of universities, the gold went to the UCAM of Murcia and the bronze to the University of Seville.

The Spanish Equestrian Championships took place in Segovia from 21 to 23 April. Roser Serrano won bronze in dressage with her horse “Babalu de Adama De Susa”; and Sara Mayes was 6th in show-jumping with “PDC Forever FE”. In the team competition, the Universitat de València won the gold medal, the silver medal went to the University Carlos III of Madrid, and on the third step of the podium was the team from the University Cardenal Herrera-CEU.

The UV men’s futsal team also participated in the CEU, held in Valladolid from 17 to 20 April. The UV team started the tournament with a 1-1 draw against the University of Granada, then won 9-0 against the University of Deusto, and in the third match won again 3-2 against the University of Extremadura. With two wins and a draw, the UV team was out of the semi-finals by overall goal average.

In chess and climbing, the UV representatives did not have their best competition either. The bouldering competition was held in León on 20 and 21 April. In chess, the UV team competed in Salamanca from 20 to 22 April, they came seventh in the team competition and the best individual result was for José Manuel Nieves, who finished tenth.
