Biography

Full university professor of Civil Law at the Universitat de València. Llicenciat (Former Spanish Undergraduate Degree) in Law by the Universitat de València, with extraordinary award (1985). Doctor in Law by the Universitat de València, with extraordinary award (1989). Professor of Civil Law at the Universitat de València from November 1985. Tenured University Professor of the University from October 1991 to June 1999. Full university professor from June 1999. He has been Secretary (1987-1989) y Vice-Dean (1989-1992) of the Faculty of Law and Secretary (1993-1999) and Director (1999-2006) of the Department of Civil Law.

He has developed his scientific work in every area of Civil Law, specially in terms of duties and contracts, real rights and Land Law Registration. To this end, he has carried out research stays at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London (1990, 1995, 1997, 2007, 2013 y 2015), at the Istituto di Diritto Privato de la Universidad “La Sapienza” in Rome (1996), at the Istituto Giuridico Antonio Cicu of the University of Bologna (1998) and at the Dipartimento di Diritto dell’Economia, University of Florence (2010). He has directed postgraduate courses in Construction Law (2000-01 a 2007-08), Horizontal Property  (2001-02, 2003-2004 a 2007-08, 2009-10 a 1015-16), Protection of Consumer Rights (2004-05, 2005-2006).

He has taught in doctoral programmes such as “Interpretation of legal rules” (1992-93, 1993-94), “Good will and abuse of right” (1994-95, 1995-96), “Property and property registration” (1996-97, 1997-98), “The system of contractual responsibility: models of contractual responsibility” (1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2001-02., 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05), “General principles of contracting” (1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01), “European contract law” (2004-05, 2005-06, 2007-08, 2008-09), “The resolution of property trading” (2005-06, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11).

Since the academic year 2011-12 he has been teaching the course “Contract law: modern trends in contracts” at the Master’s degree in Law, Business and Justice.  He is part of the Editorial Assistant Board of the Revista de Derecho Patrimonial, (Proprietary Rights Magazine) Aranzadi Editoria, since his foundation (1998), of the Editorial Board of the Revista de Derecho y Nuevas Tecnologías, (Law and New Technologies Magazine) Aranzadi Editorial, since his foundation (2003) and of the Advisory Board of the magazine Derecho Privado y Constitución (Private Law and Constitution) since 2014.

Through the Research Results Transfer Office of the Universitat de València he carries out works of consultancy, delivering legal opinions and collaborating with law offices. He is arbitrage of the Court of Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Shipping of València since 2008 and Chairperson of the Valencian Civic Codification Commission since its creation.
