The piece was a job from the Darwin Correspondence Project, of the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), with the support of the John Templeton Foundation (USA), due to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of ‘The Origin of Species’.

From the correspondence between the two scientists, Asa Gray and Charles Robert Darwin, Baxter constructs this dramatic piece through which go over not only the scientific progresses of the two characters, but also their relationship and even the discrepancies that both maintained about some Darwinist theories. Throughout the hour that the performance goes on, the public goes through the key moments of Darwin’s life, and can recognise the high didactic-scientific content that the piece has, dramatised by Baxter in a comprehensible and pleasant way for the spectator, since it is not required any specific scientific training to go into the Darwinist concepts.
