Since the 90s until now, Santi Tena (València 1970) has developed a pictorial career within the frame of the new Valencian figuration. He has been the ambassador in various national and international exhibitions. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday 22 November at 7 p.m. by Santi Tena and Carles Xavier López Benedí, director of the Principal Peset Hall of Residence. The exhibition will be hold in the Muralla Hall of the school until the 13 January.

After a period dedicated to the adaptation of Tirant lo Blanc to comic, Santi Tena returns to present his painting with ‘Gastronautas’, where the author immerses us in his own universe, in his own words “You think your present is not like the future someone imagined in the past. You live in a decaying time, waiting for Friday or holidays, speeding up time while your world tears down. It does not mean it is worse nor better than others, but you always thought it will stay the same, less technological, less gastronomic.”

The exhibition presents a series of pictures inspired on the gastronomic world. Pastiche and paradox are gathered here to ironize about the contemporary world. A world where the eclecticism, miscegenation, vagueness of the referents, profusion of images, recycling of the past or technological advance lead the author to develop pictorial scenography where reality and fiction melt into a tragicomic embrace.
