A cavall entre dos segles
A democracy without rights? (Breaking up the Constitutional Rights)

The Course ''A democracy without rights? (Breaking up the Constitutional State)'', aims to show and denounce the aggression and deactivation to which the rule of law is currently being subjected, in particular Title I of the Spanish Constitution, relating to the fundamental rights and public freedoms of citizens.

This is a chain or "domino effect" deactivation: first the social rights (work, education, housing, health), then the public freedoms needed to protest and claim against this first abuse (expression, press, association, demonstration), and finally the principles that guarantee the rights that are being cut back (procedural rights, principle of legality, judicial guarantees...).

The persecution of opinions on social networks, the repression of cultural expressions (such as "puppeteers", rappers, singers or various satirical magazines), hate crimes, affront to religious feelings, police control of the right to demonstrate, respect for the Crown, self-censorship of information professionals, the position of the courts, judicial independence, the principle of legality... these and other issues will be dealt with rigorously and closely by the Course team.

Coordinators. Fernando Flores Giménez. P.T. Constitutional Law, Political Science and Administration. Member of the Institute of Human Rights. Universitat de València and Joaquim Bosch Grau. Spanish magistrate and jurist. Former spokesperson of the organization "Judges for Democracy".
