From the 15 to the 17 April, the Faculty of Language Studies, Translation and Communication of the Universitat de València will hold the 3rd Conference of the International Theatre Association of the 21st century. This year, it will deal with the subject “Migrations, displacements and movement in the theatre of the 21st century”.

The purpose of the event is changing the perspective and experience of contemporary theatre in terms of:

• Theatrical performances of migrations and displacements in the 21st century.
• Theatrical performances of the reactions to these migration phenomena in hosting societies.
• Migrant as a theatrical character in the scrip and the stage: re-interpretations and perspectives.
• Actors playing migrants or displaced people.
• Theatrical creation and immigration: authorship in the global context of displacements.
• Dramatic and cultural frictions: cultural diversity, agreement and disagreement in a changing context.
• Performance spaces and scenography for migration and displacements.
• Movement, migration and fusion of languages, cultures and theatrical traditions.
• Movements and fusion of scenic languages in the theatre of the 21st century: hybrids and zones of contact with other genre: dance, circus, street theatre, performance, body art, facilities, perfopoesía (music and poetry) and scenic poetry.

More than 50 researchers and performers from Argentina, Spain, the United States of America, France, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Colombia and the Czech Republic will attend the event.

Important directors and dramatists such as José Sanchis Sinisterra and Rodrigo García will be in charge of the opening and closing ceremonies. There will be several panels of discussion to present new publications and theatrical projects.

On Monday and Tusday at night, the sessions will conclude with theatrical performances at La Mutant. Espai d’Arts Vives.
