Departure 6 May

The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation and the Office of the Vice-Principal for International Relations and Cooperation, maintains the Erasmus at the Territory programme. In this fourth edition, training itineraries that will allow showing some Valencian municipalities referents for their culture and heritage will be shown.

These itineraries are addressed to the students of the Erasmus programme of the Universitat for the 2016-2017 academic year. Routes, planned in collaboration with the corresponding town councils, are intended to enlighten the Erasmus programme students about economic, cultural and landscape values of the Valencia region. Both municipalities are in the region of Los Serranos or La Serranía, referent rural space of the Valencian interior, at the foot of the Javalambre mountains (Teruel).

The Villa de Alpuente has a rich history where stands out the Muslim period, when formed its own independent kingdom (Tarifa de Alpuente). Stand out its walls and castle, catalogued as Heritage of Cultural Interest (BIC), as well as its terraced traditional vegetable gardens.

Chelva, historical capital of the region, has a rich religious heritage result of the coexistence of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures until the 17th century. Proof of this are several hermitages, the Santuario de la Virgen del Remedio, the Convento de San Francisco and the Iglesia de los Ángeles, a Barroque temple of the 17th century. The Villa and its vegetable gardens are classified as Heritage of Cultural Interest.
