Next 22 February the travelling exhibition of the Carrasca, La Font Roja and La Serra Mariola begins its journey in Alcoy. The Llotja de Sant Jordi will host this exhibition until 11 March. The Mayor of Alcoi, Antonio Francés, and the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, Jorge Hermosilla will open the exhibition, accompanied by Emilio Aura, Professor of the Department of Prehistory and Archaeology and curator of the exhibition, and by Joan Carles Membrado, head of initiatives of the office of the Vice-Principal and coordinator of the exhibition.

The Carrascal of La Font Roja, located at the north of the province of Alacant, is an excellent representation of mixed Mediterranean forest, which occupies 2.298 acres declared as Natural Park in 1987.La Serra Mariola appears as Natural Park since 2002 thanks to its singularity and ecological and heritage values that contribute to make of this place one of the most popular of Valencian popular culture.

The exhibition, developed by the University of Valencia and through the work of the technical team of the office of the Vice-Principal, is a multidisciplinary choral work, which includes aspects that define La Font Roja and La Serra de Mariola, while analysing its botanical, wildlife landscape, agronomic, historical and cultural values. In the preparation of the 27 panels have collaborated teachers and researchers of numerous departments of the University, as well as experts of the Valencian Museum of Ethnology and the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Alcoi or the technicians of the Natural Parks of the Generalitat Valenciana. All of them are specialists who have worked together with the objective of uniting disparate topics in a complete exhibition that doesn’t forget any detail of this emblematic space.
