“El hilo rojo. Memorias de dos familias obreras”, and the documentary of the same name, produced by Javier Couso and Mario Amorós, will be launched at the Municipal Library of the Vall d’Uixó.

Publicacions de la Universitat de València and the Institut d’Estudis Polítics invite you to the launch of “El hilo rojo. Memorias de dos familias obreras”, a book written by Mario Amorós and a documentary about the families Montalbán Gámez and Moya Sánchez produced by Javier Couso and Mario Amorós.

Born in the post-war period in the Cordovan district of Alcolea, their childhood was marked by their hard work in the country houses and by the repression of the Franco dictatorship against their fathers and uncles. They migrated to Valencia between 1963 and 1964, where they joined the underground fight of the Communist Party and participated in the creation of Workers’ Commissions. They were arrested, tortured and imprisoned because of their commitment to democracy and the regaining of freedom. In the 1970s and during the Spanish transition to democracy, these families played a key role in the struggle of the working class. One of them, Antonio Montalbán, was the first general secretary of the Workers’ Commissions in the Valencian Country (CCOO-PV) and member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Spain. The commitment of the families Montalbán and Moya extends to the present. In current times, under the dictatorship of the markets and of the large speculative capital, when workers are losing the rights that required a century and a half of fighting, the Democratic Memory is the “red thread” that will help us defeat neoliberalism and exit the “maze”.

The event will be attended by David Lluch Almenar, member of the Political Council of EU-La Vall; Antonio Montalbán Gámez, former member of the PC-PV and co-founder of CCOO-PV; Antoni Llorente Ferreres, member of the Political Council of EU-La Vall and Salvador Piquer, member of the Political Council of EU-La Vall and former member of the PC-La Vall.
